The Day Unfolds

Day Unfolds

Day two and evidence of a beautiful day is unfolding. It is 5:30 a.m. and I am walking the beach watching the waves splash on my feet as the sun begins to peek through the last remaining clouds.

The size of the ocean (in this case the gulf) have always amazed me. How small we are compared to this never ending body of water. I think of all the things it holds in its grip that we may never see. I think now on the sadness of the families that lost loved ones due to this latest catastrophe in the gulf.

The BP Oil rig that has exploded claiming eleven lives and the waters taking them down to the abyss. And I see how at the same time how beautiful the sun is gazing over the sand and the edge of the water as I leave my footprints in this place.

The shorebirds are running just ahead of me in their attempt to grab the last remaining inhabitants of periwinkle shells to eat before the tide has claimed them for the day.

I say a prayer for them, the families and all the gulf life in and around it that will be effected by this terrible disaster that man once again has done to what was once a perfect place.
