Going out on a Limb

I have moved through my life being bold and courageous.  I never wanted to look back on my life and regret things I didn’t do.  When faced with a difficult task I behaved as though it was impossible to fail.  I looked beyond what was in front of me to the belief in what I could accomplish.  No matter what the task I took the risk.  Have you heard the saying “go out on a limb, that’s where the fruit is?”  Fruit bearing or not I didn’t want to live with the regrets of “What if?”

When I took this shot of the Eagle landing on the end of this dead branch it reminded me of just how cautious and careful most people live their lives.  These creatures are born with boldness and courage.  One hundred days after birth they are ready to take giant leaps of faith.

These Eagles make several attempts before they leave the nest and fly off to begin life on their own.  During the process they stumble and fall many times. But what makes everyone stop and look at these majestic birds in awe is the power and strength they possess.  People are amazed when they see them spread their wings wide, light upon a delicate branch or soar gracefully through space.

It’s not always easy to be comfortable with big dreams and I don’t endorse taking foolish risks.  It’s not easy to deny fear.  We all dread failure, rejection and what others may think of us.  But without faith in ourselves we may live our lives regretting what we never tried.

Our vision is our potential worth.
