Asking For God’s Heart

This past week many of us shared our Thanksgiving celebration with family and friends and enjoyed the food and companionship.  I had a few days to myself to work on my photography and some time with my eldest granddaughter and niece.

We all took a walk down to the boardwalk to take some photos when we came upon a gator eating a bird for lunch.  The kids were horrified and I watched the tears well up in my granddaughter’s eyes.  It didn’t make me very happy either, but I tried to explain that in nature those things happen.  It’s not pretty and it can make us sad, but hurtful things happen all the same.

I began to wonder what makes God’s heart hurt?

What does He feel when bad things happen to people?

How can I develop a heart like His with love and compassion for those who are suffering?

There’s really only one way to find out.  Ask Him for His heart to allow me to feel what is important to Him and provide me with a way to help those in need.
