Vacation Begins

Storm on the Shore

Today is day one of this new blog and day one of a much needed vacation. This trip has been planned for months and the day is finally here. It actually started yesterday but I am not counting it since it was spent driving to get here.

Where is here?

Gulf Shores, Alabama. Right on the beach and centrally located between numerous State Parks and Bird Reserves. I will be in heaven.

I am awaken at 4:30 a.m. with the sounds of thunder clapping and sharp intruding streaks of lightning as it flashes through my window. The house we rented for the week (am here with a friend and her family) is four stories tall and beautiful. Plenty of room. It is now 10:00 a.m. and I sit in the bed watching out the window as it still rains and storms. Flash flood warnings are in effect and we wait.

Even with this I can still see God manifesting himself through these works of nature and know his “will” is being done. It is Sunday morning and I sit quietly for a break in the weather to hopefully begin experiencing the area that surrounds me.

As the day moves forward little changes. It continues to rain and the clouds are darker than ever. At times the rain and wind is more severe than others and as I sit on the back deck watching the Gulf send pounding waves to the shore I am enjoying the sounds of Mother Nature at work.

I give in to the relaxation and make a note to self that this is only the first day, I still have the entire week ahead to explore this island. After all, Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest.
